Best Xbox One Games #15 – Dishonored 2
Developer: Arkane Studios
Synopsis: Corvo is back, and this time he is in the midst of great company. Play as either Corvo Attano or Emily Kaldwin in Dishonored 2, where you are tasked with reclaiming the throne of the Empire of the Isles from those who ripped it away from the Kaldwins. Using your abilities as a supernatural assassin, you can sneak through the numerous missions or take more of a “guns blazing” approach. Be careful, though, as the amount of chaos you bring to Karnaca will have a tangible effect on the story.
Why it’s one of the 50 best Xbox One games:
For as much as people who enjoy stealth games hate action compromises, the supernatural elements of Dishonored 2 makes it feel less like a strict stealth game and more of a hybrid. More important is the fact that the story changes based on your actions in a tangible way, giving the player agency in a world so very unlike our own.
The level design is immaculate, giving players the tools necessary to solve the puzzle of the mission on their own terms. There are a ton of things to find off the beaten path, too, expanding the length of gameplay in a way that doesn’t feel overbearing or padded. You are a powderkeg waiting to explode; it’s up to you when to light the ignition.
