Best Xbox One Games #33 – Titanfall 2

Developer: Respawn Entertainment

Synopsis: Titanfall 2 brings forth mech combat and an expanded notion of vertical and lateral movement to the FPS genre. Pilot one of several titan classes in multiplayer, enjoying a multitude of new gameplay modes and maps. There’s even a single-player campaign this time, exploring what it takes to become a titan pilot in an ongoing war between the Militia and the IMC.

Why it’s one of the 50 best Xbox One games: With the advances made to the base gameplay of Titanfall 2, Respawn Entertainment looked to shave down the jagged edges of the wheel instead of trying to re-invent it yet again. It’s easier to make the loadout you want, just like the UI is more refined for this kind of FPS experience.

With new additions beyond just guns and titans, players have more options to explore player versus player combat on the ground. Grappling hooks will fly you through the air, in addition to taking out opponents. Movement is smoother than before. Furthermore, upcoming maps will be completely free to everyone, avoiding a real problem of user fragmentation through accessibility.

Titanfall 2 is Titanfall but better. Quite frankly, it’s the rebirth of the two-title franchise.
