Best Xbox One Games #35 – Dead Rising 3
Developer: Capcom Vancouver
Synopsis: The world is ending, and fast. You play as Nick Ramos, and the goal of Dead Rising 3 is to escape the town before the government drops a bomb on it in six days, destroying everything and everyone. While that sounds similar to Sunset Overdrive, or perhaps reminiscent of a Raccoon City situation, the zombies (with a little bit of practice) are easy to manage. The game plays fun and silly the despite morose situation presented. Customization of weapons is the name of the game, as you can take the carnage to the zombies in a number of creative ways. It’s a zombie slasher that knows it’s one, and is the biggest Dead Rising sandbox to explore to date.
Why it’s one of the best Xbox One games: An Xbox One launch title operating as a 3rd-party exclusive is a daunting task for any developer. Thankfully for Microsoft, Capcom Vancouver was up to the task with Dead Rising 3. Large swaths of enemies pushed the limits of development at a time where third-parties had little idea just how far they could push the hardware.
Ready for anything, Xbox One players got an early look at a familiar franchise with a brand new look, new areas to explore, new vehicles to plow through the local town and explosive weapon customization technology. It’s a laugh and a half.
