Best PS4 Games #42 – Alien: Isolation
Developer: Creative Assembly
Synopsis: It’s fifteen years after the events of the first Alien movie, and Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda, is looking for her. The flight recorder of the Nostromo, the one that mysteriously disappeared in the first film, is on board the Sevastopol, leading Amanda to search for clues there. Things go awry quickly as aliens and androids alike take over the ship, forcing Amanda to use her wits, guile and an occasional flamethrower to escape with her skin intact.
Why it’s one of the 50 best PS4 games: Unlike Aliens, which focuses more on the action-oriented lens that a lot of movies take today, Alien: Isolation tries to stay faithful to the 70’s movie. Because of that, you will see a focus on suspense as you hide in vents and crawl away from an intelligent alien and swaths of robotic creatures. This makes for a more stressful, but tactical approach to navigation, always keeping you on your toes.
A classic sci-fi experience made for a contemporary audience, Alien: Isolation plays like no other in the horror genre today.
