Best PS4 Games #49 – Prey
Developer: Arkane Studios
Synopsis: Set 15 years ahead in a dystopian future, Prey takes Morgan Yu’s life as he escapes a space station known as the Talos I. What started out as a series of tests on the alien Typhon race becomes a test of survival, ingenuity, space shotgunning skills and the ability to think on your feet and trust only what you know to be real.
Why it’s one of the 50 best PS4 games: An underappreciated aspect of Prey is its ability to pervert your perspective on what you know to be realistic science fiction tropes. In a world where JFK lives and funds the advancement of NASA’s space programming, the tools you have at your disposal offer non-conventional combat and utility needs to overcome enemies.
Prey sets in motion its own set of rules, and it’s up to the player to overcome their fears and preconceptions of their known reality in an action-adventure game with RPG-light elements that make it quite the striking overall package.
