Best Nintendo 3DS Games – #24 Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire
Developer: Game Freak
Release Date: November 21st, 2014
Synopsis: Trainers return to the region of Hoenn in these full remakes of the original Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, but in bright, vivid 3D and with more features than we could have dreamt of when the original games released. Along with the usual eight-gyms/catch ’em all gameplay you’ve come to expect from Pokemon are all the perks of Pokemon’s sixth generation, such as PokemonAmie, the GTS and Wonder Trade, online battles, and the National Pokedex. Pokemon ORAS also includes an extra “Delta Episode” at the end of the main story with new characters and opportunities for legendary Pokemon, a multitude of Mirage Islands for more legendaries, and a new take on flying with the Eon Flute where the player controls the Pokemon in the air.
Why It’s One Of The Best Nintendo Games: Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, strange yet wonderful in their initial release, got the remakes they deserved with Pokemon ORAS. Not only is the Hoenn region splendid with the updated graphics, but Game Freak added just enough tweaks to the script to fix the awkward plot from the original games and surprise its audience with the Delta Episode when the main action was all done. Mirage Islands, Secret Bases, and GTS connectivity with Pokemon X and Y added hours of replay value to the titles, even without the longed-for Battle Tower.
Pokemon ORAS was a fitting button on the end of the sixth generation of Pokemon–for Pokemon Sun and Moon capping off the 3DS Pokemon titles, Pokemon ORAS, and X/Y will be tough games to beat.
