Best Nintendo 3DS Games – #39 Yo-Kai Watch 2

Developer: Level-5

Release Date: September 30th, 2016

Synopsis: Nate (or Katie) is just an ordinary kid with an extraordinary watch…the Yo-Kai Watch. The watch allows him to see creatures called the Yo-Kai, mysterious and mischievous beings causing havoc in his hometown. In Yo-Kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls, as in the first game, Nate must help his friends and other people who dwell in the town with their Yo-Kai problems by befriending the less obnoxious Yo-Kai he encounters, and using them to combat the most mischievous ones and defeat them in battle to stop them from causing more trouble.

As he befriends the Yo-Kai, they can eventually be summoned to battle against other Yo-Kai, leveled up, and evolved. As Nate explores the town of Springdale with his Yo-Kai friends, he’ll encounter greater and greater Yo-Kai threats. It’ll take all of his skills and trust in his ghostly partners to save the town.

Why It’s One Of The Best Nintendo Games: The original Yo-Kai Watch was an excellent game in its own right, but Yo-Kai Watch 2 takes the same formula and piles on the new features, sidequests, and collectible Yo-Kai. Since the plot is so similar, you can start the series at the second game without confusion and begin your Yo-Kai adventure. The town of Springdale is chock full of sidequests, hidden areas, secrets, and Yo-Kai to befriend. Though the main campaign is fairly short, it’s easy to spend hours running through the streets in search of rare spirits. Excellent online features including competitive battles, and a goofy, pun-filled sense of humor are the cherry on top of an all-around solid title.
