Best Nintendo 3DS Games – #41 Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies

Developer: Capcom

Release Date: October 24, 2013

Synopsis: With confidence in the courts shattered, it’s not just up to Phoenix Wright to save the day. Apollo Justice and Athena Cykes must also take on the role of passionate defense attorney again, each using their unique abilities and insight to investigate cases and argue them to ensure the innocent are spared and the guilty convicted. This was the first Phoenix Wright game on the 3DS and the first (as a result) to make use of 3D to bring its characters to life.

Why It’s One Of The Best Nintendo Games: The silly, whimsical world of Ace Attorney came back again for Dual Destinies, bringing some of the best cases and storylines in the series. Special abilities such as the Mood Matrix add color and variety to the gameplay as it switches between the three attorneys, helping keep things from growing stale as the plots and cases converse. Capcom had largely ironed out most of the series’ most glaring troubles, such as stymied investigations and weird logic by this point, making Dual Destinies one of the most intuitive and enjoyable Ace Attorney games to play.
