Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been out for a few weeks now and after setting new player engagement records, Activision is gearing up to release content as part of Season 1. The upcoming season will introduce new multiplayer maps, the return of a fan-favorite game mode, expand upon the Zombies experience, and update the Warzone map. Let’s take a look at what’s coming!

New maps

Three new multiplayer maps will arrive with Season 1, all of them supporting 6v6 game modes. Two of them — Meat and Greece — will be available at the start of Season 1. The third one, Rio, will be available later on in the season.

Gunfight returns!

Itching for some 2v2 action? Season 1 will return the fan-favorite Gunfight game mode along with the 2v2 map, Training Facility.

Gunfight made its debut in 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. It was also added in Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare 2 in later seasons following those game’s releases. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait too much longer for it to make its debut in MW3.

Zombies story continues

The Zombies experience continues as players investigate a massive, mysterious gateway within the Exclusion Zone. Inside the Dark Aether Rifts, players will have limited time to complete objectives and escape. This sinister and chaotic challenge is an end-game experience for players who have already completed the seasonal mission.

Additionally, the season will introduce a modified V-R11 Wonder Weapon that transforms enemies into allies. There’s also a new category of unique acquisition schematics that players can work towards unlocking.

New Call of Duty: Warzone map

The new Urzikstan map introduces an urban landscape with 11 major points-of-interest. Activision teases:

"From the iconic Popov Power Plant in the north all the way through to the Zaravan Suburbs in the south – there’s a new favorite hot-drop for everyone."

Additionally, the update will include modern mechanics that blend Warzone and Modern Warfare 3 movement such as Slide cancelling, Tac-Stance and more. The map will also feature new modes of transportation, including horizontal ziplines and even a drivable train.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s Season 1 is set to launch on December 6.
