Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: How to free roam as Venom

If you do not want to hear any spoilers in regards to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, then I would highly suggest you proceed reading with caution. However, chances are if you are reading this, then you have already progressed far enough into the game to know a thing or two about Venom’s role in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Venom is one of the biggest villains you will come across in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. There are quite a few villains you will get to see throughout your journey, but Venom is easily one of the biggest, if not the biggest villain in the entire game. For those gamers who are hoping to get your hands on playing as Venom as a playable character, you are in luck. Venom is actually playable one time throughout the entire game. A lot of gamers were hoping that they would have been able to use Venom a little bit more than just one mission. If you were someone hoping to just get a little more playable Venom action, then you came to the right place.

There is a glitch to free roam as Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

I am assuming Insomniac Games will eventually patch this glitch, but for the meantime, you can actually free roam as Venom. A YouTuber that goes by the name of Ellemen actually figured out how to get more playing time with one of Marvel’s most iconic villains, Venom.

As I stated before, there is only one time you get to play as Venom throughout Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and that is during the Main Mission “Don’t Be Scared.” When you reach the part of the mission where the objective is to “Devastate the Hunters,” you should be standing in the middle of the New York City streets facing towards a bunch of enemies. These enemies will be trying to shoot at you and kill you, but you are just going to want to ignore them.

If you pan to the left, you will see a building with a bunch of advertisements and an aircraft wedged into the side of the building. This is a building you will be able to scale all the way to the top and that is exactly what you are going to want to do. You are going to need to repeatedly press the jump button over and over to start scaling the building. Once you get to the top, you are going to want to repeat that process over again with the building in front of you that says, “Life of the Pharaoh.” This building will take a lot more time to scale than the first one.

At the top of the building there won’t be very much to do. If you try and run to the left or the right, you will be running into an invisible wall. However, if you move Venom up against the metal beams in front of you as close as you can and then move left, you will be able to bypass these invisible walls. Once you have bypassed the invisible walls, New York City will be yours to explore as you wish with Venom.

While this glitch does allow you to get extra playing time as Venom, there isn’t really anything special you can do. Civilians will still spawn, but you won’t be able to cause any harm to them. You will be able to do some damage to the environment, but you won’t be able to do much more than that. Basically, the purpose of this glitch is just so that you can travel around New York City as Venom.

Before you do the glitch, you should be aware that this could cause some problems with you save and break the save all together. That is why if you are trying to attempt this, you should try using a manual save so that if something does happen, you can load into a point in the game prior to your glitch attempt.

I’m sure this isn’t what people meant by getting extra playing time as Venom, but for the time being it is all that we got. I am sure Insomniac Games is listening to all the Venom hype and I wouldn’t be surprised if we got some sort of Venom game Spin-Off or DLC at some point down in the future.
