I’m starting the list with a series because both are equally worth the hype. Little Nightmares I and II follow small children trying to escape hostile environments filled with unsightly monsters. The puzzle platformer forces players to explore creepy settings and makes them fear what’s around the corner. It’s a true feat in atmospheric storytelling.

Both Little Nightmares games have a handful of jump scares that may spook players. That being said, they aren’t bad enough to make most gamers stop playing.

Bandai Namco recently announced a third installment that’s coming in 2024.
