Assassin’s Creed Mirage is out today,  and with it the franchise returns to its roots with more localized, stealth based combat. Currency is king in AC Mirage, and you’ll need a combination of money and different token to succeed.  Below, check out our guide on money and token farming in order to be prepared for the road ahead.

In AC Mirage, pretty much all of the components you’ll need for crafting will come from merchants. Unlike previous titles like Valhalla, these won’t be able to be picked up in the open world. You’ll need money and a new item called tokens, which serves a power-up dejour so to speak. Thanks to Ubusoft’s awesome accessibility setting, you can set off to unlimited funds right away.

This setting is called “Guaranteed pick pocketing”. Turn it on ASAP. Sneaking up on NPC’s allows you to pick pocket them in Mirage. Without this setting,  you’ll be forced to complete a small, easy mini game to succeed. If you fail,  the dude calls for help, and you’re forced to hide until the guards give up. Don’t waste your time, click the setting on and you can skip this part entirely. Stealing from these NPC’s will get money, gems, jewelry and other crafting components for upgrades. You can do this instantly in the first city.  I found the largest groups of people are in the city center, which is the circle part on the map. Just keep walking around all over as long as you want as stealing becomes just as fast as picking up loot as you walk over it.

Another cool addition to Mirage is the tokens mechanic. These will also be pick pocketed from NPC’s and aid your gameplay. The more you have,  the better. There are three types you can get, each with two uses:

1. Merchant favor tokens – Use these to lower prices with merchants. Can do up to 3 times, each time lowers cost of goods by 10, 20 and 30% respectively. Other use is it lets you use merchants to hide from enemies.

2. Power Favor tokens – These let you either hire a group of sell-swords to help fight for you or to remove your “wanted level” and have enemies stop looking for you right away.

3. Scholar Favor tokens – This one is fun. You can go back to the original game and use this to walk in the center of a bunch of acholars so you won’t be seen. You can also hire a bard to play music and district enemies.

The merchant tokens are game wide, so you only need to use these at 1 merchant to lower prices. Every merchant will be affected for the whole game. You will still need them to hide, however. These tokens of course will be picked up during normal play, but it’s better to set yourself up early as possible.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage adds these new concepts to the original design for a fresh and welcome feel to the franchise. Doing this setup early on will set you up for the whole game with a minimum amount of time spent. Hopefully, this guide gets you on your way to riches.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is out now on both PlayStation and Xbox consoles as well as PC.
