PS Plus: Free PS5 and PS4 games for October announced
With just a few days to go until October, Sony has gone ahead and announced the next batch of free PlayStation Plus games. And one of them is perfect for spooky season.
Headlining October 2023’s PS Plus lineup is The Callisto Protocol, a survival horror set 300 years in the future. In this narrative-driven, third-person horror, you play as Jacob Lee, an inmate of Black Iron Prison, a maximum-security penitentiary on Jupiter’s moon, Callisto.
Released in 2022, The Callisto Protocol, developed by Striking Distance Studios, drew comparisons to Dead Space, the granddaddy of all sci-fi space survivor horrors. While the atmosphere and graphics certainly lived up to the comparisons, we were disappointed by the gameplay, which combines shooting and close-quarters combat. Despite our mediocre feelings towards the game, it’s still a great freebee and a perfect game for the Halloween season.
If you’re not really into horror, head to the farm in Farming Simulator 22. From agriculture to animal husbandry to forestry, live out your most desirous farming dreams. And nwo there are seasonal cycles, which is perfect for fall! There are more than 400 machines and tools from over 100 real agricultural brands and co-op gameplay to team up and run your farm with a friend!
The third and final free game for PS Plus Essential members for October is Weird West, a dark fantasy reimagining of the Wild West. It’s an isometric action RPG set in a world where lawmen and gunslingers share the frontier with fantastical creatures. The decisions you make throughout this game will impact the characters, factions, and even places that you encounter.
All three of these games will be free and playable on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 starting on October 3. This means you have until October 2 to download September’s free PS Plus games, which included Saints Row, Black Desert – Traveler Edition and Generation Zero.
