Downgrade: Is the Madden Curse Affecting Josh Allen?

Madden 24 reveal: Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen rumored as cover athlete

First off, if you believe in superstition, Monday Night Football certainly had all of it. Hard Knocks curse affecting Aaron Rodgers, the aforementioned Gipson ending the game, and probably the most popular superstition in video games, the Madden Curse. Bills QB Josh Allen turned the ball over four times (three interceptions to Whitehead, one fumble) in a primetime loss that really the Bills should’ve won easily. Once Rodgers goes down, you expect Allen and Stefon Diggs to go to work and really put a damper on the entire Jets season. Instead, the AFC East champions lost for the second consecutive year at MetLife. More notably, Allen has never won an overtime game in his career at 0-5.

We already talked about the “arm punts” and third interception. But, right after a superstar catch by Wilson and PAT to tie the game, Allen coughed up the football right away to start the next drive and give the Jets the opportunity to take a 16-13 lead. Yes, he looked great and more assured in the game-tying drive to force OT (and there was the DOINK!), but you cannot turn the ball over four times.

Allen was the third highest overall QB at launch behind Mahomes and Joe Burrow, and it seems he’ll get a bit of a downgrade to start.
