Madden 24 Week 1 roster update is coming soon as the first week of the 2023 NFL season wrapped up with a walk-off punt return touchdown for the New York Jets and undrafted free agent rookie Xavier Gispon.

It was a wild week to start the season with the Detroit Lions taking down the reigning champion Kansas City Chiefs, the Miami Dolphins winning a shootout with the Los Angeles Chargers and much more. Looking at the performances overall, there are some clear favorites for upgrades and downgrades early on this season. It’s just Week 1, but there should already be a case made for one player to immediately jump into the 99 Club after being snubbed at launch.

Here are our favorites for Madden 24 Week 1 upgrades and downgrades in the first roster update of the new season.

Upgrade: Tyreek Hill Gets That 99 Club Spot

Tyreek Hill put on a show with Tua Tagovailoa under center away in SoFi Stadium. At launch, there was only one wide receiver in the 99 Club and deservedly so in Justin Jefferson. Though, many will argue there’s no playmaker in the league quite like Cheetah.

Tyreek Hill Week 1 Statistics (WR/Dolphins): 11 Catches, 215 Yards, 2 TDs

Averaging nearly 20 yards a catch to open up the season with two touchdowns and a long of 47, Cheetah needs to be immediately upgraded to 99. He’s currently just one point overall away. Hill would be the sixth player in the 99 Club alongside Jefferson and the following players:

  • Aaron Donald – RE / Los Angeles Rams
  • Patrick Mahomes – QB / Kansas City Chiefs
  • Travis Kelce – TE / Kansas City Chiefs
  • Zack Martin – RG / Dallas Cowboys

Look out for Hill to get an upgrade early on this season.
