Is Starfield ever coming to PS5 or PS4?

Bethesda has to be decently happy with how the release of Starfield has gone so far. The game has had its up and downs so far and the reviews have been mixed, but that didn’t stop Bethesda from setting a personal record for themselves. It has been announced that Starfield is now officially the biggest Bethesda video game launch of all time. Starfield is far from perfect, but this news has to have Bethesda doing jumping jacks. The news and announcements of all this Starfield success has PlayStation gamers wondering if they will ever have the chance to play the game on a Sony platform.

Is Starfield coming to PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 at any point?

For a very long time now, we have known that Starfield was going to an Xbox console exclusive as well as have a PC release. However, many PlayStation gamers have been supporting Starfield in many different ways in hopes that maybe a miracle will happen, and Bethesda will eventually release the game on a Sony platform.

We have seen players on PC use a PlayStation DualSense controller to play through Starfield. A lot of PC games support the PlayStation controller, so this isn’t that surprising. However, it doesn’t end there. There have also been images surfacing on the internet of custom PlayStation 5 consoles and controllers that have been decked out in Starfield content. This makes it seem like Sony released Starfield themed consoles, when in reality they are all fan made.

Some gamers have even taken it a step further by modding in the PlayStation Studios intro. Which if you have played some other great PlayStation console exclusives, then you have just the right idea of what I am referring to. The PlayStation community is really hoping that Bethesda makes a massive announcement about bringing their next big franchise to PlayStation consoles, but you shouldn’t hold your breath.

Microsoft ended up purchasing Bethesda for $7.5 billion in 2021. This also included the acquisition of Bethesda’s parent company ZeniMax Media. Since Microsoft now owns both Bethesda and ZeniMax Media, that means they are both now a part of Xbox Game Studios. With both being a part of Xbox Game Studios, there is no chance that gamers will ever be seeing Starfield on PlayStation or any other Sony consoles.

If you are looking to see what all the talk and hype is all about, you are going to need to purchase and Xbox Series X or an Xbox Series S. If you already own one of these Microsoft consoles, you can even start playing Starfield as soon as the game was released on the Xbox Game Pass.

The other option that you have is to just buy it for your PC. Of course, that is easier said than done given not everyone has a PC powerful enough that can run AAA games. However, those are the only options you have if you are looking to jump into Bethesda’s new galaxy.
