PS Plus leak for September 2023: Saints Row could be free for PS5
As we’re nearing the end of the month, we’re gearing up for Sony’s announcement of next month’s free PlayStation Plus titles. But it seems that one of the free games leaked early.
According to Dealabs user Billbil-kun, one of the highlights of September’s PS Plus lineup will be Saints Row. To be clear, this is the 2022 title that served as a reboot of the series.
The game follows a group of four friends living in the city of Santo Ileso (loosely based on Las Vegas) who start their own outlaw gang, competing for power against other criminal organizations in the city. Although it toned down the over-the-top sillinessPS Plus leak for September 2023: Saints Row could be free for PS5, it retains many of the customization elements seen in previous Saints Row games. The reboot was released to mixed reviews criticizing its predictable story and dated gameplay. On top of this, it was released with numerous bugs and other glitches that tarnished the overall experiences.
The game sits at a 61 Metascore for PS5, although the user score is much more unforgiving with just a 2.9.
To Volition’s credit, the developer has released multiple updates since launch that have addressed many of the issues. To date, four major updates have been released, tweaking and elevating features and gameplay.
Sony hasn’t confirmed Saints Row to be part of September’s PS Plus lineup, although he does have a pretty good track record with reporting leaks. We don’t yet know what the other games joining Saints Row will be next month.
September’s PS Plus offerings should be available from September 5 through October 3, meaning we should get some sort of announcement from Sony within the next couple of days.
In the mantime, you can still claim August’s PS Plus games for PS4 and PS5. This month’s games are PGA Tour 2K23, Dreams and Death’s Door. All three of these are available for PS Plus Essential members until September 4.
