Madden 24 Week 1 roster update: When is it coming?
The NFL preseason is now complete and we’re counting down the days until Week 1 kickoff. Although Madden 24 has been out for a few weeks now, you may still want to hold off on starting your franchise. That’s because the rosters in Madden 24 are still not 100 percent accurate to what they will be come Week 1.
The deadline for all 32 teams to trim their 90-man offseason rosters to 53 players is Tuesday, August 29 at 4:00 p.m. ET. But even then, it will take a few days for EA to update the rosters in Madden 24. So when can we expect the Week 1 roster update?
Madden 24: When is the Week 1, 53-man roster update releasing?
In recent year’s, the Week 1 roster update for Madden 24 has come hours before the Thursday night game that kicks off the NFL season. We should expect the same for Madden 24.
EA Sports’ Madden ratings chief Dustin Smith has confirmed on social media that a smaller roster update will be release in the coming week, followed by the larger Week 1 roster update.
Keep in mind that if you do start a franchise in Madden 24 before the roster update drops, you’ll then need to completely restart if you want the latest rosters from EA. You can’t update the rosters once your franchise has started.
The 2023-24 NFL season kicks off on Thursday, September 7 at 8:20 p.m. ET. So expect the Madden 24 roster update to arrive just a few hours before kickoff.
As for the contents of the updates, some of the more recent rosters changes, such as the Dallas Cowboys trading for Trey Lance, will be likely be updated in the coming week. The 53-man roster update will take into account the hundreds of roster changes that result from the final cutdown day.
Madden 24 is now available for Xbox and PlayStation consoles as well as PC.
