I just finished streaming the first season of Twisted Metal, Peacock’s adaptation of the popular PlayStation video game series. While the season started slow for me, I ultimately ended up enjoying it and, without getting into spoiler territory, let’s just say the finale left me eager to return to this post-apocalyptic world. But will that happen?
Will there be a second season of Twisted Metal on Peacock?
Season 1 of Twisted Metal did come to a satisfying conclusion but it did strongly allude to a second season. But right now, it’s unclear if we’ll get one.
Responding to a fan on Twitter, err “X,” showrunner Michael Jonathan stated that they have “no idea if season two is happening.” As of right now, Peacock has not greenlit a second season and the ongoing writers’ and actors’ strikes are complicating things.
Unfortunately we have no idea if s2 is happening, made all the more complicated with the strike. But I would love to do more (clearly) https://t.co/o6mSDCdGBX

Jonathan added that the ending that setup a second season doesn’t mean that it’s a done deal but rather the stories they’d want to tell if they get the chance.
No unfortunately it doesn’t mean season two is a done deal, just that these are the stories we’d want to tell if @peacock sees the appetite for more and decides to greenlight another season.

For what it’s worth, Twisted Metal is setting all sorts of records for Peacock. Deadline reported earlier this month that Twisted Metal was the streamer’s “most binged” comedy premiere to date. While we don’t have specific numbers, Twisted Metal has joined Bel Air, The Best Man: Final Chapters, Poker Face and Based on a True Story as one of Peacock’s top five original series launched to date.
Additionally, Nielsen’s data revealed that Twisted Metal garnered more 400 million viewing minutes during the weekend following its July 27th debut, making it one of the week’s most-watched streaming originals.
Season 1 of Twisted Metal currently sits at a 70% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes with a more impressive 94% Audience Score. Between the reviews, audience reception and impressive streaming figures, one would think that Twisted Metal Season 2 would be an easy greenlight for Peacock. But as of right now, nothing has been confirmed.
