Does Remnant 2 offer crossplay co-op gameplay?
Remnant 2 has been released for roughly a week now and some gamers are getting the itch to play this RPG with some fellow friends. One of the most common questions that gets asked when a new video game comes out is if the game supports crossplay co-op gameplay. Crossplay has been a popular feature for video games that have been released on the next generation consoles. However, not every video game offers this feature.
Does Remnant 2 support crossplay?
If you are looking to play Remnant 2 with a buddy of yours, there is good news and bad news. The good news is you can absolutely play Remnant 2 with a friend of yours. The bad news is that Remnant 2 does not support crossplay between the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. This might seem like a bit of a bummer for those of you who have friends with different consoles, but you can still play co-op with friends who share the same console as you.
How to play co-op in Remnant 2
If you are loading up the game for the very first time, you won’t be able to play co-op right away. You must first choose your Archetype and then make it through the tutorial portion of the game. Once you have done this a have touched the giant red crystal at the end of the tutorial, you will be ready to party up with a couple of your buddies.
If you are looking to join a game, you have a couple of options. First, you can open up the menu screen, head over to System, click on your friends list, and join their session like that. The other option you have is to travel to the World Crystal and choose join game. Here you will see a ton of random games you can join if you want to play co-op with other players. However, if you have a friend that is online playing Remnant 2 with a joinable session, their game will show up in this area for you to join as well.
How to host your own co-op session of Remnant 2
If you want to host your own co-op session for friends to join or even random other players to join, it is fairly simple as well. All you need to do is open up the menu and select the “Game Session” option. You will have three options to toggle between, Public, Friends Only, and Offline.
If you want to make your sessions joinable by anyone playing Remnant 2, you will need to select “Public.” If you want to make your session only joinable by some of your friends, you will want to select “Friends Only.” Lastly, if you want to just relax and slay some creatures by yourself and progress through the story solo without anyone interrupting you, you will want to select “Offline.”
How co-op gameplay actually works
When you play co-op in Remnant 2, there is no story progression. There is character progression, however. What that means is that the progress you make in your friend’s story does not carry over to your story world progress in your own personal world. The items that you obtain, the levels that you achieve and progress you make via your character will carry over to when you go back to your own private world. This is called your character progression.
Loot sharing is also a main feature in co-op in Remnant 2. If someone in your co-op picks up an item or loot of some sort, everyone in your party will be given that item. This is a great way for you and a group of friends to split up and if they find loot across the other side of the map, you will be granted it as well. It is a really nice feature that not every RPG has featured in their game.
Even though Remnant 2 does not offer support for crossplay gaming, you still have the opportunity to play with a group of your friends on the same console. Maybe at some point in the near future Remnant 2 will offer a crossplay feature.
