Coming off the release of Pikmin 4 and Disney Illusion Island, there’s been lots for Nintendo Switch owners to dive into. 2023 has been a big year for the hybrid console, which has also seen games like Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Metroid Prime Remastered released for it.

There’s no blockbuster game releasing for the Switch in August but there are a lot of smaller-budget titles on the way that could provide tons of enjoyment. From an RPG/musical hybrid (Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical) to a turn-based wrestling game (WrestleQuest) to a roguelike action platformer (30XX), there’s a lot to look forward to on the Nintendo Switch in August. Below is a list of new video game releases on the Nintendo Swich in August 2023.

Below are some of the games I’m especially interested in.

Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical

Stray Gods is a roleplaying musical in which you play as a college dropout who gets accused of murdering the last muse. Using your newly-developed powers of music, you must discover the truth behind Calliope’s death and prove your innocence to a pantheon of Greek gods.

30XX (August 20)

Inspired by the Mega Man series, 30XX is a roguelike action platformer that uses procedurally generated levels. It’s a sequel to 2016’s indie hit 20XX, but offers players both a permadeath roguelike mode as well as a “Mega Mode” where the entire game’s levels are generated in advance and do not change upon death.

Sea of Stars (August 29)

Sea of Stars is another intriguing title — a role-playing game that centers around two heroes who use the power of the sun and moon to fight against an alchemist. Inspired by RPGs like Breath of Fire and Chrono Trigger, gameplay consists of puzzle-solving and turn-based combat with the player able to control up to six characters.
