After a recent wave of account removals, the amount of people banned in Warzone is higher than ever before.

It is no secret that Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Ranked lobbies are overrun with cheaters. Sometimes the games feel impossible to enjoy when there is a constant threat of running into someone aimbotting or walling that can kill you instantly. Warzone bans usually come in bunches without much warning, and with Warzone and MW2 Season 5 releasing tomorrow, Activision is working hard to eliminate as many cheaters as possible.

Here’s an updated breakdown of how many people are currently banned in Warzone.

How many People are banned in Warzone?

Close to 1 million people are banned in Warzone as of Aug. 1, 2023. After 90,000 accounts were removed in March 2023, a total of at least 940,000 Warzone accounts were banned. Now, Activision has added to the tally, banning over 14,000 more accounts on July 28.

The Call of Duty Twitter posted, “In the last 24 hours, new detections directly targeting cheat developers at the source has led to over 14,000 account bans for cheating and hacking in Modern Warfare II and Warzone.”

Although Activision has received criticism in the past for being slow to react to cheaters, they have certainly made more of an effort in 2023 to clean up their lobbies. Players can be banned not just for cheating, though; anyone who exploits glitches, uses harmful language, or threatens another player can also be kicked off the game permanently.

Warzone Season 5 will be released tomorrow, Aug. 2, at 9 a.m. PT/ 12 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. GMT.
