#2. San Francisco 49ers

One could argue that if the 49ers weren’t decimated by injury at the quarterback position last season, they very well could have been playing in the Super Bowl. The 49ers have a stacked roster, perhaps the best in the NFL, but I do think their overall will take a hit due to the uncertainty at quarterback. They’ll enter the season with Trey Lance and Brock Purdy, two young quarterbacks that have flashed signs of promise at the professional level but still remain rated in the low-70s in Madden. It’s possible they’ll receive a slight boost in Madden 24, but it’ll be nowhere near the level of, say, Jalen Hurts.

If the 49ers can figure out their quarterback situation, there’s no shortage of playmakers on offense for them to get the ball to. After last season’s big trade, the 49ers now boast Christian McCaffrey (96 OVR), George Kittle (96 OVR), Deebo Samuel (89 OVR) and Brandon Aiyuk (85 OVR).  And the offensive line is anchored by 99 overall rated LT Trent Williams.

Their defense is just as talented, if not more. Nick Bosa (97 OVR), Fred Warner (96 OVR), Jimmie Ward (87 OVR) and Charvarius Ward (86 OVR) all return. If there was a weakness on the 49ers it was the interior defensive line. They tried to fix that by signing DT Javon Hargrave (84 OVR).

Barring any injuries or setbacks in play at quarterback, the 49ers have a shot to compete against the Eagles to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
