Looking to stay inside this summer? The next batch of PlayStation Plus games have arrived. Starting today, you can download your free PS Plus Essential games for PS5 and PS4.

As announced last week, three free new games are available for PS Plus members. And all three are playable on PS4 as well as on PS4. So what’s available to download and play for free for PS Plus Essential members?

Free PS Plus games for July 2023

The three free games this month are Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Cross-Gen Bundle, Alan Wake Remastered, and Endling – Extinction is Forever.

The most recognizable game of the bunch is easily Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War which was released in 2020. Set in the early 1980s of the Cold War — between the events of 2010’s Black Ops and 2012’s Black Ops 2 chronologically — players set off on a globe-trotting adventure in pursuit of an alleged Soviet spy, Perseus. In addition to the story campaign, you’ll also be able to play traditional Multiplayer and Zombies experiences.

Alan Wake is another name you might recognize. Remedy Entertainment’s action-adventure was first released in 2010 exclusively for Xbox and PC. This is the 2021 remaster which also made its way to PlayStation with visual improvements while maintaining the core gameplay and narrative elements of the original. In the game, which is told in episodic format, you play as Alan Wake, a thriller novelist attempting to uncover the mystery behind his wife’s disappearance in the small fictional town of Bright Falls, Washington. The twist in his search is the realization that he’s experiencing events from his latest novel, which he does not remember writing.

The third and final game this month is Endling – Extinction is Forever. In this 3D side-scroller, which offers a commentary on the toll that humanity’s pollution is taking on the planet, you play as the last fox on Earth trying to survive the harsh environments while protecting your cubs.
