Xbox Games with Gold for July 2023: Two free games for Summer
If you are an Xbox Live Gold member or an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriber, another month means more free video games to add to your library. Microsoft has revealed two more free games, via the Xbox Wire, as part of the Xbox Games with Gold promotion that gamers will be able to take advantage of this July.
Xbox Games with Gold July 2023
- Darkwood: (Available July 1 through July 31) (Normally $14.99)
- When the Past was Around: (Available July 16 through August 15) (Normally $8.49)
As the Xbox Games with Gold promotion normally goes, you will be able to take advantage of one of the games on the first of the month and the second game halfway through the month. This month we see two games that are polar opposites. Darkwood is rated “M” and has very dark vibes to the game, while When the Past was Around is a more peaceful experience that focuses more on puzzles.
Darkwood
Darkwood is a survival horror games that creates horror without using jump scares. The main goal of the game is to explore the creepy forests of the Soviet Bloc during the day. When the sun is out, this is your opportunity to scavenge materials that will help you get through the night. When the sun is down and night begins to take over the light, it is up to you to make sure you found enough materials to create traps and weapons that will help you survive the night. Who knows what terrifying creatures are lurking around in the shadows?
When the Past was Around
If horror isn’t much your speed, you can claim When the Past was Around on July 16. This game takes you on the adventure of Eda and Owl’s love story. This game is under the Point and Click genre that has a great soundtrack and great art drawings throughout the entire game.
With the July Xbox Games with Gold being announced, that means the time is running out for the June Games with Gold. If you have already downloaded both of June’s free games, you will have them forever, even when they are taken out of the Xbox Games with Gold promotion. If you have not gotten the chance to scoop up last month’s free games, you still have a little bit of time left to do so.
