Pokemon GO Update permanently increases spawn radius
Pokemon GO will be turning seven years old on July 6, 2023, and the game is still going strong. When Pokemon GO first came out, it was the hottest thing in the world. Being able to become a real-life Pokemon trainer and go out and explore the world and collect your very own Pokemon was something Pokemon fans were waiting years to do.
Despite its age, Niantic continues to support it with updates. In the most recent update 0.275, the spawn radius has been changed for the better and players are really excited about it.
If you opened the app and have noticed Pokemon spawning at a larger distance away from you, that is not a bug, it was intended by Niantic. Niantic has been taking a lot of criticism lately for some of the changes that Pokemon GO has undergone, but this change is making a lot of players happy.
Update 0.275 has doubled the spawn radius. The original spawn radius was set at 40 meters (about 130 feet). After the update, the current spawn radius is at 80 meters (about 260 feet). As to why Niantic has made these changes is yet to come out yet, but players are happy about this change. With all of the poor feedback the game has been taken lately, maybe this is a way to try and patch some of the holes that has taken over the game.
With the increased spawn radius, you are naturally going to see more and more Pokemon spawn now. This is great as it will allow you to catch twice the amount of Pokemon, but you won’t have to travel that much more of a distance.
This also is perfect timing with the 2023 Pokemon GO Fest coming up in August. This Fest is going to offer tons of new Pokemon to be caught and added to your collection. With the increased spawn radius, new Pokemon are going to show up all over the place during the 2023 Pokemon GO Fest. If you are interested in purchasing a ticket to the event, tickets are still available.
Even though there are still a ton of problems Niantic needs to solve with their game right now. This is a step in the right direction. What do you think about the newest permanent change and what new changes do you want to see in the near future?
