High on Life was only released in December of last year and it still proved to be one of the biggest games of the year for Xbox. The comedic first-person shooter completely took the video game world by storm with its great writing, creative design, and stunning visuals.

During the Xbox Games Extended Showcase, Squanch Games revealed that the High on Life journey is far from over with the confirmation of the game’s first DLC, titled High on Knife. Check out the teaser trailer.

The 45-second teaser trailer gives us a glimpse as to what we can expect to see with the new High on Knife DLC. From the teaser, it is clear that High on Life will be taking a much more terrifying approach, bringing in a horror element to clash with the comedic element.

According to High on Life Narrative Director Alec Robbins:

"“It’s important that every comedy game has a scary part to offset all the comedy. Ideally, we’d get one scream for every 3 laughs just to even out the overall emotional experience but we’re still fine-tuning things to see if we can hit that mark.”"

Basically, what Alec Robbins is saying is that the overall game concept will be the same. They will add some new features, you will still get those moments that you remember laughing to, but there will be an element of horror in the game. It is almost like a salty and sweet mix. You may love both separately but put them together and you get an even greater combination.

The High on Life: High on Knife DLC will be released this fall. While we do not have an exact release date for the DLC as of yet, it can most likely be expected from anywhere from September and onwards.

Since High on Life was released on December 13, 2023, the game has grown to more than 7.5 million unique players worldwide. To dive into the number even further, High on Life became the biggest Xbox Game Pass release of 2022, the biggest 3rd party launch in Xbox Game Pass history, and the biggest single-player game launch on Game Pass ever.

With how much success High on Life has had over the past six months, it is clear that Squanch Games isn’t done telling the story that so many people have grown to love. If you have yet to play High on Life yet, you can play the video game on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One Consoles and PC. Also, if you own an Xbox Game Pass subscription, you can play it as part of your subscription at no extra cost.
