This afternoon, voice actors Yuri Lowenthal and Laura Bailey hosted the 2023 Summer Future Games Show. The showcase of gaming news followed June 8th’s Summer Games Fest hosted by Geoff Keighley and Devolver Digital’s own showcase. Sponsored by Intel, the Future Games Show featured new trailers for upcoming games and some world premieres of brand-new games. Here are some games that look interesting.

2023 Summer Future Games Show: Top 5 Reveals

5. Resistor

Not to be confused with Supergiant’s cyberpunk hack-and-slash title Transistor, Resistor is described as a “Car-PG” set in a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk world where motorsport is the best way to gain fame, fortune and a ticket into the good life. The game follows Aster, a young racer competing to earn her way into the corporate-run city and the chance to save her mother, who is afflicted by a deadly illness. According to the game’s Steam page, the game features fast-paced racing, action-packed combat, and extensive car customization.

Resistor looks to be a unique spin on high-speed destruction racing long-dominated by dormant series like WipeOut and FlatOut. Resistor’s explosive car combat and eye-catching art style cement it as a game to watch for fans of the racing genre or movies like Redline that also feature adrenaline-pumping, hyperstylized motorsport.

4. The Precinct

The Precinct is a police simulator and sandbox game that follows rookie cop Nick Cordell Jr. in the neon-noir city of Averno City in 1983. Players will foil crimes, contend with powerful gangs, and try to clean up the city one thug at a time.

The Precinct looks interesting due to its procedurally-generated crime system that creates new opportunities for gameplay that are immersive and unscripted. According to the game’s Steam page, players will be able to “Feel the shifting power struggles of Averno’s gangs in a living city full of procedurally generated crimes, from parking infractions to bank heists, street racing to drug deals.”
