EA has confirmed in a recent report Season 6 of Battlefield 2042 — even though we haven’t gotten our hands on Season 5 yet.

Battlefield 2042 has had a myriad of ups and downs and EA has been in damage control for the last few years in their latest installment of the acclaimed series. 2042 launched with huge bugs, a nearly unplayable multiplayer experience, and missing features early adopters, including beta testers, were promised and didn’t get. However, Season 4 has offered gamers a refreshing take as the player count has grown recently. Although season 5 is still on the way, EA has confirmed season 6 will be happening as well.

Kevin Johnson, the Community Manager for Battlefield, confirmed in a tweet Season 6 was on it’s way and that “we are not done yet.”

In recent months, EA has confirmed more content is on the way as CEO Andrew Wilson has stated that Battlefield will be a integral part of EA’s future stating:

"“…building games and experiences that attract and entertain massive online communities across platforms, across business models, across geographies. And we think that Battlefield is going to be a meaningful part of our future. We’ll share more as time progresses.“"

Wilson also stated they were trying to learn from their mistakes, but one can take that with a grain of salt since FPS launches from DICE and EA has notoriously been horrible since Battlefield 4, including both Battlefront games.

Although no dates are confirmed, it seems the acclaimed franchise is still alive and well and the player base after the recent update has been growing. However, some fans argue that the updates to 2042 have been too little too late to jump back in.  However, Wilson stated when talking to the new leadership team in charge of the new Battlefield games, he stated: extraordinary confidence in that team and extraordinary confidence in the progress they’re making against the future of that franchise.”
