The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: How to get the Hylian Shield

If you are a big fan of The Legend of Zelda franchise as a whole, you should be very familiar with the Hylian Shield. Well, if you are, you’ll be happy to know that the Hylian Shield is available for you to find in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and is actually the best shield that you can acquire on your journey.

A great one-two punch is to acquire the Master Sword and the Hylian Shield and Ganondorf won’t know what hit him. Searching for the iconic Hylian Shield is optional, but well worth the time and effort.

Where to find the Hylian Shield in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

You can actually obtain the Hylian Shield fairly early on in your The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom journey. After you unlock the Paraglider, you can head on over to collect the Hylian Shield whenever you would like.

The Hylian Shield is located in the Hyrule Docks under Hyrule Castle. If you open the map, you will want to make your way to the wall located slightly Northeast of the Sanctum. The area is basically Northeast of the Library. For a more exact location, you can travel to the coordinates X: -0134, Y:1089, and Z:0079. If you make your way to this general area, you should be standing on the brick Castle wall.

Point Link towards the Sanctum and head in that direction. You should notice that there is a little brick path on the ground that leads to the abyss down below. However, the ground around this path is not the same texture as the path itself. This is so that this path sticks out and you know that this is the exact spot that you need to be in.

Jump off the bricked path over the edge and paraglide onto the ledge that is directly below. It is a very small fall, but Link will use the paraglider to get down safely. On the ledge below, you will notice a little entrance that leads into a cave. Head down the many flights of stairs until you reach a room with many torches and a giant unlit torch.

The final step to acquiring the Hylian Shield in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is to light this giant torch with a flaming arrow. Once the torch is lit, and mini cutscene will play and a chest will emerge from the ground. Inside this chest is the legendary and protective Hylian Shield and it is all yours.

Now that you have the Hylian Shield, you will be well protected from the dangers that are thrown your way. The Hylian Shield is the best shield that you can obtain in Tears of the Kingdom and is best paired with the best sword in Tears of the Kingdom, the Master Sword. This iconic combo is well worth the time and effort of acquiring.
