The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: How to get horses
With some much content to dive straight into and how many different areas you are going to have to explore in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you are going to want to travel around the map fairly quickly. There are lots of ways to get around in the game, from walking to gliding to riding a horse. Horses are a great way of transportation, you just got to make sure you can find one and tame it.
Where to find horses in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Your first order of business if you are looking to ride a horse it to actually find a horse first. Horses are located south of Lookout Landing. Just open up the map and put a marker south of Lookout Landing and head in that direction. You will eventually run into an open field with a bunch of horses.
After you have decided which is the lucky horse that you will call yours, you are going to want to capture the horse so that you can make it your very own. You don’t want to run at the horses head on otherwise they will get spooked and run away. You want to be stealthy and sneaky. To do this, crouch and sneak up on the horses from behind. This way they won’t see or hear you coming. When you get into the range of actually mounting the horse, a button prompt will pop up telling you to press “A” to mount the horse.
How to register your horses at stables
Now that you have mounted the horse, you are free to roam wherever you would like on this horse. However, this probably won’t be the first and only horse that you capture in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. To make sure that all the horses you capture and ride are yours forever, you should register them at the Horse Stables.
To do this, make your way to any of the Horse Stables located around the map. It should be easier to get to the Horse Stables now that you can get their quicker on your horse. When you arrive, all you have to do is talk to the receptionist that runs the Stables and there will be an option to click on that says, “Register Horse.”
By registering your horse at the Stables, that horse will now be permanently yours for as long as you would like. This is a great way to keep horses with great stats that you really like. You can view the stats of your horse at the Stables. Here it will give you all the details you need to know about your horse, and you can even give it a name. Giving it a name may actually help grow your bond with each of your horses a little bit easier.
Just like how horses behave in real life, your bond with your horse will increase over time. To progress your bond with your horse in a faster manner, pet your horse and ride it around. If you see pink hearts surrounding your horse, you know that the bond has increased. If you are ever wondering where your bond stands with one of your horses, you can view your bond of each of your horses at the Horse Stables.
Pony Points
One of the fun parts about collecting various horses are the Pony Points. Pony Points can be redeemed for rewards at any Horse Stables. These Pony Points can be used for different cosmetics such as a new saddle, or even other improvements to make your horses better.
You can acquire Pony Points by sleeping at the stable or by discovering new Horse Stables around the giant map in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Now that you know where to find horses and how to capture them to make them yours forever, go out and find your partner in crime. Every horse is different, and each horse can be buffed by using those Pony Points that you keep collecting.
