Stamina and health are very important in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom just as it was in its predecessor Breath of the Wild. Below, we’ll show you how to upgrade each one and what materials you’ll need.

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: How to upgrade health and stamina

In order to upgrade your health and stamina, you will need Light of Blessings. These are located and earned by completing shrines.  These shrines are mini-puzzle locations that will net you an inventory item as well. All of the shrines are marked as blue squares on your map. You will need to have at least four in your possession to get each upgrade.

Once you have 4 ( or more), head over to any settlement anywhere on the map. It has to be a major, big one with an upgrade shelter located within it. Head over to the shelter and give the statue lady as many as you want (but at least 4 ). You wil be able to choose a new health heart container or increased max stamina for each set of four lights of blessings you provide.

The heart containers of course refill all your health to max, and stamina containers add an extra circle of stamina around the previous one as in Breath of the Wild.

With 120 shrines scattered throughout Hyrule, you’ll have no problem finding all 30 upgrades you can desire. Of course,  depending on your skill level, you will want to delineate your balance of health and stamina wisely.

Be sure to check out all our guided for each of the shrines, labyrinths,  Gerudo towers, Korok seeds and more soon. Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is on Nintendo Switch beginning May 12, 2023.
