8. Paladins

This is our first stop at an unsupported game on the Deck. There are videos of people who found work-arounds to get Overwatch 2 working on the Steam Deck, but what about the unsupported Paladins? Two YouTubers have found a fix involving using an experimental OS or installing Windows 10 on the Deck. If you are not into monkeying around and you think Evil Mojo’s competitive shooter arena is right up your alley then the Switch is the way to go. The Joycons have motion aiming, which is an added bonus too.

Paladins stole some of the limelight away from Overwatch, putting out a free game that some consider to be the brand of choice. On the Switch, the game is faithful to the PC counterpart. The graphics get a little muddy and the draw distance is weaker, but the game is very playable. If you don’t mind grinding your days and nights away to buy new characters and moves, Paladins has proven to be very competent. Keep in mind, when you make an account on the Switch, the characters don’t port over. You have to start at zero.

7. Grandia I and II

Grandia I and II were breakout JRPGs on the PS1 and Dreamcast. They had such a good reception they made a remaster. The Nintendo Switch puts both games in one cart for $39.99. The Steam store sells each game separately at $20 a piece. The Switch welcomed the Grandia with open arms, but the Deck did not.

The JRPG from Game Arts is a cult classic and I recommend this game to anyone who wants to get into the genre. Grandia covers every JRP fantasy trope including spiky haired heroes, gentle magical girls, and special moves that fill the whole room with explosions.

If you really want to play this game on the Steam Deck there is a fix that involves adding files into certain folders. Otherwise the game crashes because of a runtime error. Switch players can enjoy it right out of the box.
