Beyond Oasis is a 1994 release for the Sega Genesis that plays a lot like Legend of Zelda. While, by today’s standards there really isn’t a lot going on here, for the time it was an exceptional dungeon crawler that, once you learned the controls, helped a lot of Genesis people get over the fact that missed out on Link to the Past.

It also features a lot of things surprising for its era like animated cut scenes as well as complex hidden moves. It also did something that Legend of Zelda wouldn’t do until MUCH later which was add several weapons that would break when used enough times. Hey, not all ideas are winners.

And while the game isn’t all that tough, for people interested in tearing through the game and experiencing it without getting slowed down, there are some fantastic codes that’ll make your experience go by without a hitch.

Remember, these are codes for the Nintendo Switch. If you’re going to be playing this back on the Genesis not only are you going to need to translate which button is what, but you’ll need the Sega 6-Button controller which, I used to think was more than a game would ever need. Oof.

Special Moves

Find your player with just the default dagger? Fret not. That thing is a more versatile weapon than you probably realize as Ali’s got enough hidden moves that he could qualify as a Street Fighter. Do the following to access the basic daggers sweep flippy moves.

  • Flash Stab
    • Forward three times, B
  • Flip Slash
    • Forward, Back, Forward, B
  • Grand Spin
    • Hold B, Rotate joystick clockwise, Release B
  • Sword Flurry
    • Clockwise on the joystick, Forward, Back, Forward, Hold B real quick and release
  • Triple Flip
    • Complete the Sword Flurry but immediately hit B twice after the first flip

Sound Test

This is more if you just want to sample the various sound effects and music of the game.

  • Go to the game select screen and hit + and B at the same time

High Score List

  • From the title screen press + and B

Full Inventory and Maxed Stats

If you REALLY want to tear through the game at a speedy clip do the following to get all the items and full stats. First you need to make sure the first save slot is open and unused and do the following:

  • At the title screen hold Up, Right, Y, and X at the same time while hitting + until the game starts

See the ending

Being nigh invincible wasn’t quick enough for you? You want to see the ending? Damn speedy, okay. Let’s do it. Same as before, make sure slot 1 is opened and get ye to the title screen.

  • At the title screen hold Down, Left, Y, B, and R at the same time while hitting + until the ending starts
