Nintendo Switch Online: Shining Force II Cheats for Sega
You guys, I’m so hyped to type this one out. Shining Force II is my desert island video game. I seriously love this game so to be able to write a cheat code page for it tickles the teenage version of me still hiding in my brain so much.
Anywho, if you slept on this game it’s a fantastic tactical RPG akin to Fire Emblem by Sonic! Software Planning from the early ’90s. It features awesome character design, bright colorful graphics, and music that will just stay with you for decades. Trust me.
There are also a TON of secrets in this game which I’ll be sharing with you here.
Just please keep in mind that these are for the Nintendo Switch’s Genesis Channel so the controls will be for that of the Switch. If you’re playing on the OG system you’re going to have to figure out what buttons I’m referring to, but I believe in you, son (and/or daughter).
We’re also going to do the location of hidden characters first and then go over to the cheat code bits.
Hidden Characters
The game has a lot of weird moments where blink and you might miss getting a character in your party that you’ll never be able to secure if you don’t know what weird thing to engage with and when.
And this being Shining Force, I don’t just mean you might miss out on having some swordy boi inyour party that you can mix up with another one. I’m talking a full-on golem, centaur, bird person, or even an adorable turtle that becomes akin to Gamora once it levels up enough. No joke.
Anyways, here’s when to get the various characters.
- Chaz
- When you go back to Grands Island head over to the town of Yeel and find a piano. Play it.
- Claude
- After freeing Moun go to the Northwestern corner of town and find a golem arm laying around, like you do. Later, when taking the secret path to Grans you’ll reunite the arm with Claude getting him on your team.
- Eric, Karna, Randall, and Tyrin
- Return to Creed Mansion after Oddler has become evil. All three will be available for your party.
- Kiwi
- He’ll be in an empty house shortly before you leave Grans Island. (Trust me, stick with this character)
- Sheela
- When you return to Grans Island later, find the Monk’s Monastery. She’ll be in the back where the waterfall is.
- Skreech
- When in Bedoe for the first time, finding a baby bird learning to fly. When you leave the town, check around outside and eventually you’ll find a spot where he’ll fall on you. Later in the game he’ll grow up and join your party.
- Taya
- After you beat Zalbard go investigate a statue. You’ll find one that’s actually Taya that’s been turned to stone.
Cheat Codes and Secrets
For these three codes, you need to be quick as you have to start and finish entering the code while the Sega logo is on the screen before you start the game.
Battle Select
- Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Up, Right, Down, Left, B, A, B, A, B, A
Secret Configuration Mode
- Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Up, Right, Down, Left, Up, B
Secret Configuration Mode 2
- Up, Down, Up, B, A, Right, Left, Up, Down, Up, B, A, Right, Left
Name Other Characters
- To name every single character you can have in your party you have to either have beaten the game once or used the Secret Configuration Mode code to select “game completed”. From there, start a new game and when entering the main character’s name, highlight END and hold down + before selecting end.
Secret Final Boss
- After you beat the game and you get the FIN screen, just chill. After about two minutes it’ll say “and more…”. When this happens hit any button to be sent to a battle that features a ton of the bosses you’ve faced off against all at once.
