4. Jenna Ortega as Dina

Featured as a supporting character in The Last of Us Part II, Dina is also Ellie’s partner and aids her in avenging Joel. She’s generally a beloved character among fans, accompanying Ellie throughout the game and developing a healthy romantic relationship while facing bleak situations. In the sequel game, Dina is a positive presence in Ellie’s life, showing optimistic and loyal character traits. Ellie’s journey in The Last of Us Part II, however, braces into violent and dangerous twists, requiring Dina to become a strong supporting role for the main protagonist.

Jenna Ortega could play a multifaceted and intriguing Dina. With her roles in the hit Netflix shows You and Wednesday, Ortega has played a wide range of quirky, tough, and resilient characters. If there are scenes that require a hopeful theme, she’ll act as a positive help to Ellie’s journey. Ortega could complement Bella Ramsey’s Ellie with a similarly energetic and charismatic performance.

3. Dallas James Liu as Jesse

Jesse isn’t simply pigeonholed as Dina’s ex-boyfriend in The Last of Us Part II; he’s one of the best-supporting characters in the game. With strong protective instincts and a ride-or-die mindset, Jesse accompanies Dina and Ellie on their mission for avenging Joel. The character faces action-packed situations during the game, getting injuries from physical conflicts. The hazardous elements of joining Ellie on her mission, however, don’t deter him from supporting his friends. With Jesse becoming a popular fan-favorite from the sequel, it’s crucial to find the perfect actor to portray this loyal companion.

With Dallas James Liu’s upcoming role as the fiery prince Zuko in Netflix’s live adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Liu could become a strong contender for playing Jesse. Liu would already have experience in handling action-oriented scenes, and, acting as Zuko, he’d have range for bracing into dark situations with strength and resilience.
