Nintendo Switch Online: Super Fantasy Zone Cheats for Sega

Super Fantasy Zone is a Mega Drive classic and part of the Fantasy Zone series of games starring the sentient ship, Opa-Opa. And while filled with adorable designs and colors, it is also a game in which you are avenging the death of your father while also preventing a horrific dark matter being from entering your realm. Whee.

And while Super Fantasy Zone is a side scrolling shooter, it’s definitely not as tough as many of the other ones you’d imagine from this era. But that doesn’t mean it can’t get easier with a few cheat codes.

Just keep in mind that in order to get to the cheat screen you need a second controller. While the standard Switch has two Joy-Cons by default, it means people with Switch Lites will not be able to enter the codes because you got a system with limitations and even after I told you not to years ago. Come on man.

Also, these codes are for the Nintendo Switch version so the buttons are those of the Switch. If you’re playing the OG you’ll need to translate the button layout.

Open the Cheat Menu

Using cheat codes in Super Fantasy Zone actually requires you to activate a special mode first. Here’s how to get there, and get a second controller handy for this bit.

  • During gameplay pause. On controller 2, hold Down/Left and press + and B. If you’re using a single Joy-Con you’ll have to hold Down/Left AND the SL button for it to register. If done correctly you’ll see the word PASS on your screen. Now it’s time to cheat.

Various Cheats from the Cheat Menu

Different buttons will activate different things. While paused and while PASS is on the screen hit the following buttons to alter the game. Remember, if you’re using the single Joy-Con method you’ll have to switch up the buttons a little.

On Controller One:

  • Press Y – Clean Pause Screen (gets rid of overlaying text for screenshots)
  • Press B – Switch between regular, invincible, or unlimited life mode
  • Press A – Skip to the next level

On Controller Two:

  • Press Y – Get 99,999,999 gold, perfect for all upgrades
  • Press B – Remove “Pass” text from the screen
  • Press A – Kills all enemies for that level and summons the stage boss

Original Arcade Soundtrack

If you want the game to have the music of the original arcade version do the following.

  • At the title screen hold down Y, B, and A then press + to switch the game’s BGM.
