The 2023 NFL Draft kicked off last night and while Madden 24 was not officially announced, a lot happened that will shape the rosters of not only this year’s game but future ones to come as well.

From the Texans trading back up to the No. 3 spot after selecting quarterback C.J. Stroud at No. 2 to the Eagles landing Georgia DT Jalen Carter, the first round of the NFL Draft was filled with tons of surprises. We saw two running backs –Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs — get drafted before a wide receiver. And quarterback Will Levis has now fallen into the second round.

Although Madden 24 was not revealed, we do expect the announcement will come within the next couple of weeks. This draft class represents a new group of players we’ll get to play as and control, so let’s take a quick look at who went where in the first round.

If you’re a Houston Texans fans, you have got to be happy with how the first round went for the team. You’ve now got a young, promising quarterback to play as in C.J. Stroud and a linebacker who will serve as the cornerstone for your defense.

Anthony Richardson was a bit of a head-scratcher for me at No. 4 to the Colts. I know he has a promising skillset but he’s still a very raw passer. In Madden 24, he’ll undoubtedly be one of the best scrambling quarterbacks in the game, but good luck passing the ball with him. His 54.7% completion percentage in college won’t result in a pretty accuracy rating in Madden.

For those who still like running the ball in Madden, Bijan Robinson is now on the Atlanta Falcons, giving them a ton of young weapons. Meanwhile, Jahmyr Gibbs went to the Lions. Detroit already had D’Andre Swift and signed David Montgomery this offseason, so you’ll have plenty of options with them.

If you prefer passing, Look out for Jaxon Smith-Njigba on Seattle, who also drafted cornerback Devon Witherspoon with the fifth overall pick. Smith-Njigba at No. 20 started a run on receivers that saw all the big names taken off the board. The Ravens finally gave Lamar Jackson a weapon in Zay Flowers. For those who like the tight end, Dalton Kincaid — the best pass-catching tight end in the draft — is now on the Bills where he will undoubtedly flourish with Josh Allen.
