Plenty of people have seen digital whiteboards used for education, but it’s not as common to see them used for gaming. Their technology connects them remotely and lets them collaborate. There are endless interactive whiteboard activities for professional gamers or for people just starting out.

Interactive Whiteboard Advantages and Disadvantages

Gaming on a digital interactive whiteboard has advantages and disadvantages. It can lag or have connectivity issues if too many people are contributing at once, which can mess with the game’s flow. Plus, it’s different from typical gaming setups, so only some games are fully playable with the controls.

That being said, gaming on one can be a fun and unique experience. The controls have an initial learning curve, but anyone can get the hang of it. It’s multipurpose and responsive, so it can have multiple applications open simultaneously, let people communicate instantaneously with their friends and is customizable to suit anyone’s needs.

Plenty of educators use digital whiteboards to teach their students using games. There are a ton of interactive whiteboard activities they can use to get their class excited about learning. In fact, most students prefer it and believe it helps them learn and engage. They’re familiar with electronics and feel comfortable using them as educational tools.

Gaming on digital whiteboards makes lessons more memorable for students and meetings more exciting for adults. There are plenty of ways people can use digital whiteboards to game.

An interactive online whiteboard has many gaming functions. Although they can be based entirely digitally on the cloud, some come with physical ports you can plug consoles or handheld gaming devices into.

Connecting with others is especially easy when it syncs to the cloud. It saves and stores data online so everyone can edit or access the games they’re playing together. They can hop onto their favorite games whenever they want, even when others are offline.

There are plenty of interactive whiteboard activities for casual or competitive gamers:

  • A gaming device can plug into the digital whiteboard. Some are physical screens, so they have ports. A console or handheld device can connect directly to those with cables. This opens up much more possibilities for video games.
  • An interactive online whiteboard can connect to the internet for multiplayer games. This works on fully digital and physical boards. Coworkers, friends and peers can connect and interact remotely, which lets them game together online.
  • Someone can download or screencast a mobile app onto the board. There are so many choices for mobile games. The apps download quickly and run efficiently because the boards have much better power than phones or tablets.
  • Simple drawing or writing games utilize the touch-screen aspect of digital whiteboards. Fully digital and physical whiteboards come with art and editing capabilities. It’s an upgrade on traditional games like tic-tac-toe or Hangman.

Since they have all sorts of capabilities, they’re perfect for gaming. Some boards come with inputs that allow for direct connections with gaming consoles. It still works even if no one has a console to connect — they can just cast their phone’s screen or go to the app store through the board directly.

People can game together from anywhere in the world using interactive online whiteboards. Anyone can join the fun when they’re connected through the internet. With a cloud-based storage system, they can also save their progress and get more invested in their favorite games. It lets them pick up right where they left off.
