A new study has identified which US state is the most obsessed with video games, based on how many gaming-related searches are made per 100,000 population.

According to a study by online jigsaw site I’m-A-Puzzle, Nevada is the state most obsessed with video games best on their criteria. The state takes the top spot with 7,658 average monthly searches of terms related to gaming per 100,000 population. Among the most searched terms in the state included “ps5” with 28,858 monthly searches, “steam” with 25,150 and “Nintendo switch” with 22,991 average searches.

And while Nevada being at the top spot might be surprising, the list just keeps getting stranger. Georgia takes the number two spot with 7,636.12 registered average monthly searches per 100,000 population, while in third place comes New York with 7,596.88 average searches.

Interestingly, Hawaii is the state least interested in video games with only 4,889 average monthly searches per 100,000 population.

“For each search term related to video games and gaming analyzed, the average monthly google keywords search volume over the past 12 months were found for each state in the US. The search volumes were then divided by their state population and multiplied by 100,000, giving the search interest per 100k population. Search volumes were then summed by their state, to determine the states with the highest video game related search volume.”
