Is Disney Speedstorm free-to-play?
Disney Speedstorm enters early access on April 18, 2023 — but will it be free-to-play at launch?
Gameloft and Disney have come together once again to release a brand new hero-based battle-racing game, Disney Speedstorm. Similar to Disney Dreamlight Valley, players come face-to-face with iconic Disney and Pixar characters and worlds, this time in a fast-paced racing setting.
The game includes a line-up of iconic Disney and Pixar characters, each with unique skills to use in each race. In addition, courses are themed around Disney and Pixar worlds, such as the Pirates of the Caribbean’s Pirates Island track and The Jungle Book’s Jungle Ruins map.
Disney Speedstorm launches in early access on April 18, 2023, and those looking to get the early start can do so by purchasing access through one of three Founder’s Packs. And while this means that there’s paid access to Disney Speedstorm, players are wondering if the game will be free-to-play when it launches in full.
Will Disney Speedstorm be free-to-play at launch?
Yes, Gameloft has confirmed that Disney Speedstorm is “designed as a free-to-play title.” However, the early access period can only be accessed by purchasing one of the three Founder’s Packs: Standard, Deluxe or Ultimate.
“This period will also allow players to become one of the many helpful voices providing necessary feedback to determine the future of the game’s player experience,” Gameloft said.
At the time of writing, no timeline has been given for how long Disney Speedstorm will be in early access. In a FAQ post, Gameloft said the exact date for the end of the early access period will “depend on the feedback we collect from the community and our development speed.”
Those who purchase one of the Founder’s Packs and take part in the game during this early access period will have all of their content carry over the the full, free-to-play release of Disney Speedstorm.
