MLB The Show 23 player ratings: Best Starting and Relief Pitchers
MLB The Show 23 launches next week on March 28, but those who purchased the Digital Deluxe or Captain Edition have been able to take to the mound a few days early. Early Access for MLB The Show 23 opened up today and with it, Sony San Diego has lifted the curtain on this year’s player ratings.
Sony San Diego had previously revealed the five best players in the game with a perfect 99 overall rating. Two of them are starting pitchers: Jacob deGrom and Shohei Ohtani. I don’t think anyone could argue that when healthy, deGrom is the best pitcher in the league. And well, Ohtani is the best player in all of baseball.
But how does the rest of the league stack up? Here are the 10 best pitchers in MLB the Show 23. This includes starting pitchers and relief pitchers.

Whereas Jacb deGrom was the only starting pitcher with a 99 overall last year, he’s now joined by Shohei Ohtani, who had a tremendous year on the mound last season. During the 2022 regular season, Ohtani, a dynamite two-way player compiled a 2.33 ERA over 166 innings pitched with a 1.01 WHIP and a 15-9 record.
