How to get Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test beta access

Valve have announced a Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test, ahead of the game’s launch this summer. Here’s how to access it.

Revealed today via the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Twitter account, Counter-Strike 2 is in development. The reveal described the upcoming game as being “an overhaul to every system, every piece of content, and every part of the C-S experience.”

According to a new blog post, Counter-Strike 2 will officially launch this summer, however a Limited Test for select CS:GO players is set to go live later today. Naturally, with the shock announcement, dedicated players are now scrambling to work out how they can gain access to the Limited Test.

How to get Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test beta access

The Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test is only available for select players who will be granted access based on a number of factors. As part of the reveal, Valve explained the conditions on which players are selected:

“Players are selected for the Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test based on a number of factors deemed important by the Counter-Strike 2 development team,” the post read. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Recent playtime on Valve official servers
  • Trust factor
  • Steam account standing

As part of the announcement, Valve revealed some of the features players will be experiencing as part of the Limited Test. Various changes have been made to how smoke works, for example. Now interacting far more heavily with the environment.

Items from CS:GO will carry over to Counter-Strike 2. All items will benefit from Source 2 lighting and materials. “In addition to supporting legacy models and finishes, all stock weapons have been upgraded with high-resolution models, and some weapon finishes take advantage of these new models.”
