It’s always cool when developers add secrets into their games for players to find. It adds a unique twist that always keeps gamers on their toes and thinking as to what else they can discover. Capcom was no different when it came to the Resident Evil 4 Remake Demo.

The demo has been out for almost a week and players have been starting to discover some secrets left behind for demo purposes. One of the biggest secrets gamers have discovered in the demo is the extremely hard, “Mad Chainsaw Mode.” The Mad Chainsaw Mode was originally thought to only be unlocked via chance by the option randomly being offered when going to start a new playthrough of the Resident Evil 4 Remake Demo. However, there is a Cheat Code to unlock the mode as well.

Cheat Codes to unlock Mad Chainsaw Mode

  • PlayStation 5: Hold L1 and R1 and press up, left, down, right, Square, Triangle, Circle, X, X
  • Xbox Series X: Hold LB and RB and press up, left, down, right, X, Y, B, A, A
  • PC: Hold Shift and Space and press W, A, S, D, R, I, E, and F

Depending on what platform you are playing on will also depend on what Cheat Code that you will use. In order to input the code, head on over to the main menu and have the “Main Story” option highlighted. When “Main Story” is highlighted, you can begin inputting the Cheat Code. If you successfully input the correct code on the correct platform, a message will pop up stating ” Extreme Difficulty Mad Chainsaw Mode Incoming!” You will then have the choice to Accept of Decline the option of playing in this mode.

If this Cheat Code was never discovered, unlocking Mad Chainsaw Mode would have been left up to chance and once that playthrough would be over, you would have had to wait to play Mad Chainsaw mode whenever it popped up again. With this Cheat Code, you can play Mad Chainsaw Mode on the Resident Evil 4 Remake Demo whenever you would like.

If you are interested in playing this uniquely difficult mode, then you will need to download the Resident Evil 4 Remake Demo. It even states that before you begin this mode that “this mode is specific to the demo and is not included in the final game.” So, if you have not downloaded the demo yet, I would highly suggest doing so. It is a fun way to experience a little bit of what is to come in a couple of weeks.
