We’ve known for a while that Resident Evil 4’s reboot would be getting a VR mode, we just didn’t know when or how much. I’m curious as to how close this VR mode will be to the one that was released recently for the Meta Quest 2.
According to the official Biohazard (the Japanese name for Resident Evil) Twitter account, it has just started development and will be free for PSVR 2 upon release. This is all kinds of huge since the original VR for the Quest is still one of my favorite things to play on the Meta Quest 2. So seeing the upgraded version with new higher res graphics and frame rates along with Playstation 5’s use of 3D audio will be quite the treat for the eyes and ears to experience. I doubt we’ll see this DLC until next year but it is something huge to look forward to, and a reason to keep the disc on your shelf or pay attention for any follow-up on when this VR DLC will drop.

That or I could be completely off base and it’s a lazy port with some mediocre first-person animations. Given Capcom’s recent history, I’m going to say it’s safe to be a little excited as the biggest disappointment from them has been Monster Hunter Rise.
Resident Evil 4 also is going to be one of the biggest showings of their new reclaim to excellence, as the original was the highest point of the series, which everyone is still talking about. VR mode will also help Resident Evil 4 stand above the well-received recent Dead Space Remake with something more for players to cling to.
No matter how it pans out, it’s exciting that we’ll be able to get more chills and thrills in the world of Resident Evil on the PSVR 2 in the future, hopefully, before 8’s VR gets too stale.
Resident Evil 4 VR mode will be free DLC for the Resident Evil 4 remake coming to PS5. Although the remake will launch on March 24, it’s unclear exactly when the VR mode will arrive.
