The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is due out in a couple of months and is the most anticipated game of the year according to voting at the most recent Game Awards. Pre-orders have been flying off the shelf since last week’s Nintendo Direct, and today we just received another reason to snag a pre-order from Gamestop. Available exclusive to pre-orders at the retailer, players will be able to snag authentic physical merchandise.

Anyone who pre-orders the game, whether online or in-store, will be able to grab an exclusive wooden plague emboldened with The Legend of Zelda artwork. The plaque is only available in store, so online pre-orders will need to bring their receipt into the store in order to pick it up.

Tears of the Kingdom releases exclusively on Nintendo Switch on May 12, 2023, and this plaque is sure to be flying off the shelves to long term fans of the franchise and collector’s alike. The standard version of the game has increased to $69.99, and Nintendo has stated they have not committed to raising the price to $70 after Tears of the Kingdom. There is also a $129.99 collector’s edition that has been sold out constantly since it was announced. For the price, you get a physical copy of the game, artbook, Steelbook case, Steel poster and four pin badges. If you were able to order the collector’s edition or pre-ordered it before this announcement, don’t worry you are still eligible.

Set as a prequel to Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom takes place years before Link wakes up for his slumber. The Master Sword is broken, and although it hasn’t been officially said, the story will most likely see Link on a journey to repair it seeing as it’s ready to go in BoTW. Many of the game’s scenes showed so far take place in the sky with Link on mounts and controlling Guardian apparatus as well.

We only have three months left to go, what are you most looking forward to about Tears of the Kingdom? Are you going to pick up one of the special plaques? Let us know below. tears of the ears
