UE5 Powered Exekiller gets first gameplay footage
Polish developer Paradark Studios has released the premiere gameplay footage for their upcoming sci-fi western action-adventure title Exekiller. In it, we get a glimpse of the environment, transportation, exploration and combat systems. Set in a distopian alternate reality, the game gives off Fallout vibes and is developed in Unreal Engine 5.
ExeKiller is a first-person action-adventure game with a multi-choice story. The game’s plot is set in a dystopian alternate reality world, in which a decimated humanity struggles to cope with the effects of a massive catastrophe that destroyed the Earth, turning it into a scorched desert. The player takes on the role of Denzel Fenix, the eponymous exekiller – a bounty hunter in the service of Helion, the ubiquitous corporation headquartered in a massive structure towering over the ruins of New York.
In the course of the game, Denzel discovers the truth about himself, and this revelation puts him in the sights of several powerful factions. We see Denzel stop at an abandoned gas station and investigate what happened to a few of the unfortunate deceased souls strewn about. They are not alone, and soon Denzel is in a fight with some robot type enemies. They do not move very fast, and the ammo is in short reserves from what the trailer shows. Denzel then switches to his melee shock baton and quickly dispatches the remaining enemies.
Exekiller is an action-adventure game based in player choice. The game world consists of a semi-open environment with a central hub, many smaller locations with long distances between them and environmental hazards such as unexpected enemies or dangerous weather. The gameplay is primarily designed around the principle of “choice”. While completing quests, the player will never be limited to one path or solution for every problem encountered. The decisions made by the player will clearly affect the attitude of NPCs, dialogues and possible endings, making each playthrough unique.
Denzel acts as a futuristic bounty hunter set in 1998 New York. Now, we don’t get too many western style games set in New York, so this is a rather original idea. As a bounty hunter, we’ll need to collect S.O.U.L.S., which are biochips that provide information on their owner and even allows you to control them.
Exekiller currently has no release date yet, but is in development for PC, PS5 and Series S/X. You can take a look at the official site here.
