Aaron Judge

You don’t have to be a baseball fan to know the name, Aaron Judge. He took over the sports world in 2022. The Yankees slugger put together a legendary season in 2022, setting a baseball record that you may have heard about.

The New York Yankees had an incredible 2022 season. The Yankees won the AL East with a record of 63 and made it all the way to the ALCS where they lost to the eventual World Series Champion Houston Astros. One win shy of the 100-win mark.

A lot of the Yankees’ success had to do with the production of Aaron Judge. Aaron Judge has always been one of the best players in the MLB. However, 2022 was historic and unlike any other. Aaron Judge set a new AL home run record by hitting 62 home runs in a season. This broke Roger Maris’ home run record of 61 set back in 1961 with the New York Yankees as well. Maybe it is something in the air?

The all-time home run record is 73 set by Barry Bonds in 2001 with the San Francisco Giants but setting the AL record was something magical to watch. This story of Aaron Judge having the opportunity to break Roger Maris’ AL home run record became so big that many TV networks, including ESPN, would cut in live to each one of Aaron Judge’s at-bats until he broke the record. This was one of the biggest sports stories of 2022 and with how talented Aaron Judge is, he is well deserving to be on the cover of MLB The Show 23.
