Wo-Long Fallen Dynasty

This game has piqued my interest since its announcement and is at the top of my anticipated lists so far for 2023. Set in China opposed to the usual Japan for sword fighting games, Wo-Long will feature magic summoning along with deadly sword strikes and a Souls-esque battle system. Saving games respawns enemies and dying will allow you to backtrack to pick up your progress. The demo will allow you to carry over your progress to the full game as well.

With precision-like gameplay and sword battles, the inclusion of magic really carries Wo-Long over the top. My time with the demo truly sold me on what will most definitely be an under-the-radar hit for this year.

Star Wars Jedi Survivor

Cal Kestis’ journey continues five years after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. This time, we know his story follows the path of rescuing someone from a bakta tank. Played by actor Cody Ford (American Horror Story), this character and Cal must embark on finding out what happened.

We don’t know much more about the story at this point, but a number of new features are included in this game. Cal will now be able to use a blaster (which as a purist I don’t really like to be honest). In addition, mounts will be able to be used to fly across areas.

Cal will also have five different stances he can use while fighting allowing for different maneuvers. Cal’s journey continues on March 17.
