2023 is shaping up to be one of the biggest if not the biggest year in gaming in terms of new releases. Games from across all genres are set to debut on various consoles with about two dozen AAA titles alone. This isn’t counting, of course, the various indie and smaller titles that have been announced. Many of the games do not yet have release dates.

For the purpose of this article, we are focusing on the games set to debut in the first half of the year with announced release dates. Now, these can always change with setbacks and delays, but for now, it is the most up-to-date and accurate information we have.

Below check out the top eight games releasing in the first half of 2023 and let us know what you think.

Dead Island 2

After going through a horde (pun intended) of developer issues, Dead Island 2 is finally releasing a full 12 years after the first game landed in 2011. Set in first person, the game is a mix between Dead Rising and Dying Light. Set in Los Angeles and San Francisco a few months after the events of the first game, the US military has locked down the area due to an increasingly strong zombie outbreak. An in-depth crafting system as well as the Rage system in the first game have returned along with a slew of new mechanics according to Dambuster and Deep Silver.

The excitement is strong for Dead Island 2, and not too many games have been anticipated for as long as this has. We can get our hands on it when it releases April 28 on PC, Xbox and PS4/5.
